Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy
WHAT HAPPENS IN A PHOENIX RISING SESSION?
 |
A Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy session is a one-on-one process lasting about one-and-a-half hours. Through assisted yoga postures and non-directive dialogue, practitioners guide clients to experience the connection of their physical and emotional selves. Using focused breathing, this connection is held and explored, fostering release, personal growth and healing.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW IS INSIDE OF YOU
 |
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is a powerful process of self-discovery using your body as a vehicle for bringing your awareness to a deeper level. It is based on the understanding that our bodies are a mirror for us; that they contain all our memories and past emotions on a cellular level. It is like we carry a coat of armor that is heavy and holds us down.Through PRYT bodywork you have the opportunity to release pent-up tension and motional stress and experience a new lightness of being and clarity. Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is also very relaxing. It is like a guided meditation using the body as a tool. I have been told that PRYT is even more relaxing than a massage. In Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy the focus is not on fixing a problem, nor do I consider myself the therapist. Instead, my role is the facilitator for the therapy to take place. I hold the space for you to access guidance both from your body wisdom and from the wisdom of Divine Source, or Holy Spirit, within you. Thus, many physical and emotional problems can be resolved through this process.

In the process of Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy I will be holding you in simple stretches and yoga postures on a soft futon on the floor. We move very, very slowly while I encourage you to breath deeply and focus inward. I will occasionally ask you what is happening now? Your answer is for you to hear, not for me. I will then repeat your response back to you, again just for you to hear. I may invite you to explore any sensations, emotions or memories as they arise. One of the first things you will notice in a PRYT session is your tendency to hold back and not let go. Trusting and relaxing enough for someone else to hold you is a very profound experience for many people.
The effects of PRYT continue after our sessions. You may find emotions and insights arising over the next day and into the week. For this reason I recommend that you schedule your day so that you can allow this time of reflection and release. To maximize the benefits of PRYT I also recommend that you make a commitment to at least 4 consecutive sessions, usually weekly. You will find that in each successive session you are able to go deeper, release more and experience a more profound place of peace, joy and healing.
My background
The Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy training was an
intense and in-depth experience which took me over 2 years to complete. It
involved 4 week-long intensives and 6-months of training, feed-back and
counseling from a mentor. I received my certification in PRYT in 1998. I
have over 20 years of yoga experience, as well as some massage and Tai Yoga
therapy training which support my skills in PRYT. I have also been
studying to become an Enneagram consultant. The enneagram is a study of the
personality and how we are influenced by our deepest needs, fears and
motivations. I have found that PRYT and the Enneagram work very well
together, maximizing the benefits of each.
Debi Lewis, certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Practitioner since 1998.
